“They tried to rig the game, but you can’t fake influence.” – Kendrick Lamar
A metaphor for a revolutionary life. For centuries, we’ve been vilified for demanding justice. We’ve marched, protested, and spoken truth to power, only to be met with batons, fire hoses, tear gas, and bullets. Our resistance has been painted as criminal, our cries for equality distorted into accusations of lawlessness. They called us looters, thugs, and thieves—not because of our actions, but because of their fear.
But history has a way of revealing the truth. On January 6th, 2021, the world saw what an actual riot looked like—mobs storming the U.S. Capitol, looting, destroying, trespassing. And yet, the very same voices that once demonized us as a threat to democracy suddenly found excuses for insurrectionists who trampled over the very institutions they claimed to protect. Police officers were beaten. People died. The so-called “patriots” waved their flags while shattering the very foundation of law and order.
The irony? Our protests were about preserving democracy—demanding justice for lives stolen by a system built to suppress us. Their riot was about dismantling democracy, fueled by lies, entitlement, and a refusal to accept the will of the people.
They tried to rig the game, but you can’t fake influence. The truth, no matter how much they try to distort it, remains undefeated.
