Compton Cowboys 2

The Compton Jr. Posse was a youth equestrian program founded in the late 1980s to keep kids off the streets by teaching them horse riding, responsibility, and discipline. The Compton Cowboys are revolutionary—they remind us that we have deep roots in cowboy culture and are reclaiming that legacy to break cycles created when leadership abandons us. When we’re left to fend for ourselves, some of us feel forced into illegal ways to survive. But let’s be real—gang culture is not our culture. It’s a product of poverty, racism, and a lack of opportunity, all by design. The U.S. government has done this before—they forced the Irish into gangs, they did the same to Italians, and they’ve been running the same play on us to keep us down. It’s on us to remember who we are—to know our history, reclaim our legacy, and build something greater.
